Residence week 47 / 2023

Marit Loe Bjørnstad is a dancer, choreographer and educator based in Bergen. Week 47 she is in residence at DansiT / Svartlamon to work on her three-part solo work Force Force Force Power Power.

The three parts are called Ein søresong/Lamentation, Techne and Eros.

The work is partly an autobiographical project, while also trying to say something universal about how we all carry our own history with us. It is an investigation of different bodily states and how these states stand in a two-way exchange relationship with technique, choreographic form and thematic content. The three parts have been shown separately on “Dans en fest! 2022” (studio Bergen), Lænsj og Dansekunst (Studio Kaien) and Creative Lab during Coda Oslo International Dance Festival (Bærum Kulturhus).

During the residency at DansiT, Marit will begin the work of linking the three parts together.

About the artist

Marit Loe Bjørnstad works as a dancer, choreographer and educator in Bergen. As a dancer and choreographer, she works in the free performing arts field with solo works, ensemble works and cross-artistic projects. In 2023-2024, she is currently developing the outdoor work Føniks and the solo work Force Force Force Power Power. In February 2024, she will premiere the commissioned work The Shadow during the Bergen International Literature Festival. As a teacher, she has teaching experience from cultural schools and higher education.
