DansiT invites you to participate in a movement research process with Yasen Vasilev, artist-in-residence at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV) in January – March 2022. The process will finish with an open public presentation at Rosendal Teater.

IMPOSSIBLE ACTIONS puts a group of performers through a series of tasks that aim to test and re-imagine the limits and functions of the body and deconstruct (un)conscious habits of movement. The work aims to liberate the body and its movements from meanings imposed on them. The work is based on the solo project NUTRICULA, and has been prototyped in residencies in Taipei artist village and La Caldera, Barcelona in 2019, and first produced in 2021 by Radar Sofia and Drama Pact in DNK – a space for contemporary dance and performance in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Yasen Vasilev works in the field of contemporary dance as a maker, dramaturg and critic. NUTRICULA is the practical research of his master thesis on the politics of dance from Shanghai Theatre Academy. Since 2018 he’s a contributing author for Springback magazine and works with Belgian choreographer Ehsan Hemat. He holds a BA in Dramaturgy from the theatre academy in Sofia, published four poetry collections and four plays and won the award of the audience at Sofia:Poetics 2010 and the CEI Fellowship at Vilenica 2020.

Information for applicants: The work is suitable for professional dancers, actors and performance artists, but is also open to people without professional stage experience. Funding will be applied for to pay participants for the public presentation / rehearsals. Working language will be English.
