Welcome to a class by Suzie Davies!

This class is structured like a conventional ballet class but she encourages the participants to work within their bodies’ own framework, giving them freedom of interpretation, and focusing on enjoying the movement rather than being locked to technique.

About Suzie Davies

Davies has many years experience of teaching open, professional classes and company classes, and is a regular teacher at Proda in Oslo. Davies is a freelance choreographer, dancer, and actress who started her career dancing in the Monty Python film ‘The Meaning of Life’ in 1983. She graduated in 1992 from the London Contemporary Dance School after which she joined Uppercut Danseteater in Copenhagen. In 1995 she joined the Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance Carte Blanche in Bergen where she remained until 2004. During this period she also toured with Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt and worked with JazzXchange in London.

Davies works regularly as an actor and dancer with Alan Lucien Øyen’s company Winter Guests, and as an actor with Kate Pendry’s group. She has also worked as a performer, creative assistant and text writer with Karen Foss Quiet Works since 2000. In 2010, Davies was awarded FFUK’s (The Fund For Performing Artists) Rolf Gammleng Prize for her work as a dancer and performer. She is also employed by Skuespiller og Danseralliansen. Davies has run the company DEED together with her partner Mattias Ekholm since 2014.
