Residency week 11 / 2025
In Gjenstand og fortvilelse (Object and Despair), Ingun Bjørnsgaard explores deeply recognizable, everyday situations through choreographic tableaux and scenic landscapes, in close collaboration with the dancers Catharina Vehre Gresslien, Ludvig Daae, and Ida Wigdel. The trio format opens up relational uncertainty in a fragile space, where there are limited opportunities for movements that might fit in. Instead, fragile and imperfect movements form a unique language in a kind of distracted expressionism, with great vulnerability and humor. Methodically, the reference to the book Skikk og bruk (1960) creates new pathways for developing syncopated attempts and missteps that may arise when people meet.
In Gjenstand og fortvilelse, Ingun Bjørnsgaard continues her choreographic investigations into the ambiguous, vulnerable, and beautiful. Her artistic work is characterized by a close and complex collaboration with composers and dancers. The three experienced dancers have worked together in several of Bjørnsgaard’s pieces and have developed a rare collective reflection that allows them to delve deeper into the movement and existential exploration.
