Today we’re launching a new series where we get to know the people in and around DansiT a little better. First up is Jenny Rønning. The dance student spent last week with us, enjoying a sunny week in Trondheim.

What are you doing at DansiT right now?
I’m here on an observational internship, or placement, through Balettakademien.

What inspires you these days?
Right now, I think it’s probably the lovely weather, spring, and the people around me. Being surrounded by creative individuals motivates me a lot.

Why did you choose to study dance?
Because I think it was the only thing I could do. It’s been my dream since I was very little. I’ve tried many different things, but I always come back to dance. So I just had to keep pursuing it.

What do you enjoy most about working with dance?
Being constantly challenged in new ways and the creative process you share with others. I find that really exciting.

What do you dream about for the future?
The dream and goal is to be able to work with dance full-time.

What’s your favorite place in Trondheim?
I’m from the coast and really love the sea, so maybe Korsvika – going to the beach and having a swim. Or Ringve Botanical Garden, or Step by Step, where I used to dance.

What are you most looking forward to this summer?
Being back home with friends and family, which I’ve missed a bit while living in Stockholm. And I’m planning to attend the Oslo Dance Seminar for the first time. That’s going to be really exciting.
