People of DansiT: Gunhild Løhre
“People of DansiT” is a portrait series about the people in and around DansiT. Today we meet producer and dance artist Gunhild Løhre.
What are you working on at DansiT right now?
– Right now, I’ve just published a post on the website about Danselaboratoriet, which performed in The Spirit and Movement together with the Trondheim Soloists.
– Otherwise, I’m a dancer in Danselaboratoriet, and I also work as a dancer and producer in Danseteateret, which is my main responsibility.
What inspires you these days?
– What doesn’t inspire me? I get ideas from everything.
– As a freelancer, I’m going to choreograph a folk play in Malm, and there is a lot of interaction between directing, choreography, and dance. That feels very exciting right now.
Why did you choose to work with dance?
– I’ve been doing this for so long. I like the combination of the physical, the creative, and the expressive.
– I don’t really enjoy sitting still. At the same time, I have a vivid imagination. It’s also very special to share moments with others through dance.

What are your dreams for the future?
– To keep working with dance, and hopefully do more work combining dance and film, which I’ve done before.
– And maybe earn a bit more money. Being a little less poor – that’s the dream.
What would you work with if you didn’t work in performing arts?
– When I think about other jobs during periods when things have been tough, I usually end up with things that are also hard to make a living from.
– I really like clothes and sewing, so design could be something. Or film or acting. And sometimes I dream about opening a small second-hand shop.
What is your favourite place in Trondheim?
– There are many nice places in Trondheim. The view from Kuhaugen is very beautiful.
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
– I’m looking forward to travelling, wearing summer clothes, and spending a lot of time outside.
– I might go to England, if the tickets aren’t too expensive, and hike in the Lake District and stay in hostels.
