– Difference Is a Strength
Artistic Director Guro Kleven Hagen brings dancers into a production with TrondheimSolistene for the first time.
The Spirit of Movement will be performed at Olavshallen on Thursday, March 12 at 7pm.
– Our collaboration with DansiT is very exciting. We have created a musical programme inspired by dance and movement, and dancers will join us on stage in two of the works, says Hagen.

In developing the choreography for Source Code, The Dance Laboratory drew inspiration from a documentary about the choreographer Alvin Ailey, highlighting the historical exclusion of Black dancers from the performing arts. Against this backdrop, the performers take the stage with improvisation and individual expression.
– With our different bodies and expressions, we want to show the power of diversity on stage. We dance for those who came before us who were denied access to the stage – people with disabilities and other minorities. Difference is a strength, says Elen Øyen, who performs alongside Alex Haugen.

The evening also features the world premiere of Bertil Palmar Johansen’s Noe om å danse and Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Pelimannit (The Fiddlers).
– Our aim is to create a performance that is both visually and musically engaging – full of energy and joy, says Hagen.
