Oh-Kyung Jang is a South Korean interdisciplinary artist with a background in dance. This autumn she in Trondheim for several weeks this autumn in connection with our interdisciplinary residency collaboration with Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV).

On Thursday 24th of October, she invites dance and movement enthusiasts to a workshop including a work in progress showing of her project Yearning to be Unborn in our studio at Svartlamon.

My project delves into somatic identity and its connection with the environment. In this workshop, I will introduce my movement research on ‘prolonged-movement,’ designed to disrupt conventional perceptions of time. This research incorporates everyday motions performed in slow motion while completing routine tasks. The workshop will be followed by a showing of my current work-in-progress.

Bio

Oh-Kyung Jang is an interdisciplinary artist with a background in dance, whose work explores the theme of identity through the lens of lived experience and its influence on perception. She holds a degree in Dance and Music from The New School in New York, and her practice spans a range of mediums including dance, voice, improvisation, and installation. Currently based in Busan, Korea, Jang’s projects are deeply reflective of her social and cultural environment, blending personal narrative with broader societal commentary.
