Professional artists and experienced improvisers are hereby invited to the summer workshop Inspiration Attack and the performance project Ups and Downs with dance and improvisation artist Katarina Eriksson!

This is an improvisation workshop where the participants drop into the body and sensation, and work with timing, listening, space awareness and personal expression, on the look for that mysterious and subjective thing called inspiration.

Katarina Eriksson’s teaching supports collaboration, diversity of expression, and “beginner’s mind».  Her main guides in art making are vulnerability, musicality and deep play.

Ups & Downs – an improvisational performance project

In addition to the workshop, Katarina invites you to join her in the performance project Ups & Downs. The rehearsals will take place from 13:00 to 16:00 monday to thursday and 13:00 to 14:30 on friday, with a public performance friday evening from 18:30 – 20:00. Participants in the performance project must be present in all rehearsals.

This project examines the idea that life is full of «ups and downs», and what seemed like a low, might turn out to be a good thing and vice versa.  Celebrating diversity of expression, Ups & Downs asks the performers to be somewhat like musicians in chamber music and jazz groups – each expressing themselves through their specific «instrument» while simultaneously having a strong sense of ensemble.

Eriksson likes to gently and playfully guide her collaborators towards their physical and creative edge, using a wide range of improvisational, somatic and performance practices along with her extensive experience as an improviser/performer.

Participation/Registration

There are three alternatives for participation:

  1. A1: Both the workshop and the performance project: all classes
  2. A2: The workshop: all classes
  3. A3: The workshop: single classes, drop-in

If you want to register for alternative 1 or 2, please send an e-mail with name, contact info and a short description of your background to Tone Tronstad.
