Stillhet og mørke – FLOKK – Andrea Winsnes (NO)

What happens when stillness moves – right in the middle of the city? Stillhet og mørke – FLOKK is a site-specific dance performance unfolding slowly in Lademoparken, inviting audiences to experience a new rhythm in the heart of the city.

The work is inspired by psychologist Olga V. Lehmann’s research, which describes silence not as absence, but as a space in-between – always in relation to noise and movement. Through quiet, sculptural movements, the dancers create shifting tableaux that awaken awareness and invite presence.

Developed by choreographer and performer Andrea Winsnes in collaboration with Cecilie Sleppen Ålskog, three local dancers and costume designer Berit Haltvik With, the piece explores stillness as a bodily experience. It invites the audience into a shared space of reflection, where silence becomes a living, breathing presence.

Stillhet og mørke – the concept and performances are based on a movement practice developed by Winsnes/Ålskog since 2019. Stillhet og Mørke has emerged in various forms and branches: Stillhet og Mørke EKKO, Stillhet og Mørke DUETT, and work-in-progress showings of Stillhet og mørke FLOKK.

About the artist

Andrea Winsnes is a dance artist based in Trøndelag since 2022. She holds a BA in Contemporary Dance from the Norwegian College of Dance (2018) and has since been actively working in the dance field as a choreographer, performer, producer, and educator. She has performed in works by Elle Sofe Sara, Kari Hoaas, and Yaniv Cohen, among others. As a choreographer, she is particularly interested in creating site-specific works that offer audiences a new experience of the spaces where art unfolds. One of her main projects is the movement practice Stillhet og mørke (“Stillness and Darkness”), developed in collaboration with dance artist Cecilie Sleppen Ålskog. In 2025, she has also choreographed for both a musical (The Sound of Music) and a short film (KLUBB). Andrea is a member of the Trondheim-based dance companies Danselaboratoriet and Danseteateret, where she works as both a dance artist and producer.
