Hvem er jeg, annet enn hva jeg kjenner til?

Dette er en dans til minne om de sidene man ikke vet man har, de sidene man av ulike årsaker har glemt. Av og til kommer de skjulte sidene frem. De kryper ut om natten. Viser seg i drømmer og fantasier. Sidene som forsvinner når solen står opp og du går til ditt daglige. De delene av deg du ikke vil anerkjenne som en del av deg selv. Men, som uten forvarsel kommer frem når du danser alene i rommet, eller som skyter frem fra skyfri himmel når «nok er nok!».

Dette er en forestilling hvor vaner, ritualer og kreativitet blir brukt som utgangspunkt. Hvor fantasiene stiger frem og sterke kroppslige minner trenger seg ut til et ekspressivt fysisk uttrykk.

Om Michael Aspli

Michael Aspli er en samtidsdanser med bakgrunn innenfor de urbane dansestilene. Han er med i kompanier som Frikar X (NO) og Kronos Dance Company (NO), TekstLab (NO), Jan Gold Experience (NY) og Elizabeth White Creative (NY). I tillegg har han vært medskapende i Grønland sin første egenproduserte danseforestilling «Evoke» og har danset på MoMA. Han er nå i ferd med å etablere The Creative Art Force – et klyster av kunstnere.

Who am I, other than what I know?

This is a dance in memory of the sides you never knew you had, the sides you had forgotten for various reasons. Occasionally these hidden sides appear. They crawl out at night and appear in dreams and fantasies. They disappear when the sun rises, and you go back to your daily life. Those parts of you that you do not want to recognize as part of yourself. Parts who appear without warning when you are dancing alone in a room, or come shooting down from the sky when «enough is enough!»

This is a performance where habits, rituals and creativity are used as a starting point. Where imagination rises and strong bodily memories force themselves out as a significant physical expression.

ABOUT MICHAEL ASPLI

Michael Aspli is a contemporary dancer with a background in urban dance styles. He works with  companies such as Frikar X (NO) and Kronos Dance Company (NO), TekstLab (NO), Jan Gold Experience (NY) and Elizabeth White Creative (NY). In addition, he co-founded Greenland’s first self-produced dance performance «Evoke» and danced at MoMA. He is now in the process of establishing The Creative Art Force – a cluster of artists.
