Kunstnersamtale: Yasen Vasilev

En time før siste visning av IMPOSSIBLE ACTIONS inviterer DansiT til kunstnersamtale på Rosendal Teaters mesanin med gjestekunstner Yasen Vasilev. Samtalen ledes av Ásgerdur Gunnarsdóttir, kuraterende produsent & dramaturg ved DansiT.

IMPOSSIBLE ACTIONS ble utviklet under residens i Taipei artist village (TW) og La Caldera (ES) i 2019, og først produsert i 2021 av Radar Sofia på DNK – arena for samtidsdans og scenekunst med støtte fra det bulgarske kulturdepartementet, etterfulgt av nye versjoner med lokale artister på Moving body festival (Varna, BG) og CoFestival (Ljubljana, SI). Den mottok den årlige prisen til rådhuset i Sofia i september 2021.

Yasen Vasilev arbeider innen samtidsdans og performance som skapende kunstner, dramaturg og kritiker. NUTRICULA er den praktiske forskningen til hans masteroppgave om dansens politikk fra Shanghai Theatre Academy, utviklet og presentert i form av workshops og forestillinger internasjonalt. Siden 2018 har han vært medvirkende forfatter for Springback magazine og dramaturgisk konsulent for koreograf Ehsan Hemat (BE/IR). Lokalt jobber han med Radar Sofia – en kunstnerdrevet residens for dramatikere og kunstnere i faresonen, og driver Drama Pact – et kollektiv av forfattere og skapende scenekunstnere som deler ressurser i stedet for å konkurrere om dem. Vasilev har gitt ut fire diktsamlinger og fire skuespill, og mottok publikumsprisen på Sofia:Poetics 2010 og CEI Fellowship på Vilenica-festivalen i 2020.

One hour before the last performance of IMPOSSIBLE ACTION there will be an artisttalk on the mezzanine of Rosendal Teater with guest artist Yasen Vasilev. The talk is led by Ásgerdur Gunnarsdóttir, curating producer & dramaturg at DansiT.

IMPOSSIBLE ACTIONS was prototyped in residency at Taipei artist village (TW) and La Caldera (ES) in 2019, and first produced in 2021 by Radar Sofia at DNK – space for contemporary dance and performance with the support of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, followed by new versions with local performers at Moving body festival (Varna, BG) and CoFestival (Ljubljana, SI). It received the annual award of the City Hall of Sofia in September 2021.

Yasen Vasilev works in the field of contemporary dance and performance as a maker, dramaturg and critic. NUTRICULA is the practical research of his master thesis on the politics of dance from Shanghai Theater Academy, developed and presented in the form of workshops and performances internationally. Since 2018 he’s been a contributing author for Springback magazine and a dramaturgical consultant for choreographer Ehsan Hemat (BE/IR). Locally, he works with Radar Sofia – an artist-run residency space for playwrights and artists at risk, and co-runs Drama Pact – a collective of writers and performance makers who share resources instead of competing for them. Vasilev has published four poetry collections and four plays, and received the audience award at Sofia:Poetics 2010 and the CEI Fellowship at Vilenica festival in 2020.
