After the screening of the documentary Vika!, there will be an artist talk with Vika, moderated by local artist and anti-ageism activist Berit Rusten.
Ageism refers to attitudes and discriminatory practices against older people. It can be compared to gender and sexual discrimination, as well as racism. Ageism is perhaps the most accepted prejudice today and the form of discrimination that receives the least attention.
– Grrrls over 60, Panter Tanter Produksjoner
Berit Rusten (75) is a professional performing artist with over 40 years of experience. She works mostly with the Trondheim-based Panter Tanter Productions and was recently awarded the Norwegian Actors’ Equity Association’s Honorary Award. Both through Panter Tanter and in her personal life, she is dedicated to challenging ageism, a commitment reflected in the performance Grrrls over 60, staged at multiple venues, including Rosendal Theater. With the production, Panter Tanter highlighted ageism as a widespread yet largely unchallenged form of discrimination, on par with gender and sexual discrimination, as well as racism.
DJ Vika is 84 years old and a superstar in the nightclubs of Warsaw. Full of energy and charisma, she refuses to let age define her and lives life on her own terms.
