Welcome to ImproLab with Siri Gjære and Anna Thu Schmidt as part of Kulturnatt.

Join a movement and sound journey to find your inner groove. In this ImproLab Siri and Anna will explore the interplay between rhythmical vocal sounds and movement improvisation both alone and in contact with each other. You are invited into a sonic landscape where you participate as much as you like and alter between listening, observing, moving, and creating. 

ImproDans Trondheim wants to offer an open, free, and safe space for movement and sound exploration and a playful approach to improvisation. 

The event is held in English and Norwegian, and is open to all ages, accessible for all bodies, and for everyone with and without dance experience.

Presented in collaboration with Rosendal Teater and Kulturnatt Trondheim. The location is wheelchair accessible.

Kulturnatt

Culture night Trondheim is the city’s largest one-day festival!

An annual evening where you can experience samples of Trondheim’s cultural life completely free. The program is filled with concerts, performances, courses, exhibitions, and much more.

During this year’s Kulturnatt, Rosendal Theatre and DansiT are collaborating on an exciting route in and around the theatre.

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM: DansiT-salong: Tree Talks with LATERNA in Rosendal Kafé

5:30 PM – 6:45 PM: ImproLab with Anna Thu Schmidt and Siri Gjære at Rosendal Teater

7:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Family concert with The Moles at Rosendal Theatre

8:00 PM: The Moles creates an atmosphere in Rosendal café throughout the evening

About the artists

Siri Gjære is a singer, composer, lyricist, actor, improviser – educated at Jazzlinja at NTNU. Works cross-artistically, starting from music, with how different environments, attitudes and materials affect how we improvise, make music and relate to different aspects of being a performer/audience. Artistic director together with artist Ann-Cathrin Hertling in the artist collective Wild at Art since 2016, collaboration since 2011.

Anna Thu Schmidt is a dance artist with a focus on dance improvisation, interdisciplinary projects, site-specific work, and integrated dance. Anna holds B.A. in Dance in Education (ArtEZ University of the Arts Arnhem/Netherlands) and M.A. in Dance Studies (NTNU Trondheim/ Norway).
