BASTARD SPESIAL! Rósa Ómarsdóttir (IS/BE) – Ecosystem practice

In this morning class we will focus on the idea of our ‘bodies as an ecosystem’. While sharing the space for 90 minutes, how do we create and unveil an interconnected system between us? Through a meditative improvisational practice, we investigate how our bodies, together with the other bodies and all the elements in the space, can form one ecosystem together.

Abour Rósa Ómarsdóttir

Rósa Ómarsdóttir is an Icelandic choreographer based in Brussels. She studied dance and choreography at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts and in P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels from where she graduated in 2014. She has made several performances with Inga Huld Hákonardóttir: Wilhelm Scream (2014) and The Valley (2015) for which they received the Icelandic Theatre Awards for ‘Choreography of the Year’, and Da Da Dans (2016) a production for the Icelandic Dance Company, celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the dada movement. In their work they investigate the relationship between sound and movements with a special focus on ambiguity and the concept of the uncanny valley. In her latest work, Traces (2017), Rósa continues to investigate the relationship between bodies and sound as well as costumes, fabrics and scenography.
