ATMOSPHERES – Marie Rechsteiner

Atmospheres is a performative installation by Marie Rechsteiner where 8 mirror cubes in interaction with dancers create a visual, moving and constantly interchanging space

The project stems from a fascination with the potential of space. A fluid process is created based on the expression “being-in-the-process-of-becoming” and the work will continuously change and develop in interaction with the audience, space and environment. The identity of the performers also becomes fluid, becoming one with the identity of the place, with the air, with the sound, with the people. Through the cubes hard and apparently smooth surface, the texture of the wood beneath shines through, an interaction between the natural and the constructed, between body and object.

The soundscape is created by Gyrid Nordal Kaldestad and Are Lothe Kolbeinsen and explores the tension between the acoustic, close and the processed and extended space. With specially built instruments, voice, guitar with extended techniques and electronics, they work with the close and tactile up against surfaces of sound in interaction with movement and space.

The installation is open until 16:00 and audiences can come and go as they please.
