Tenk deg en dans som er morsom, trist, dramatisk og intens – alt på én gang. Velkommen til ADHD-Imagine a dance that is fun, sad, dramatic, and intense – all at once. Welcome to the ADHD Dance, a unique duet between a dancer and a dog, balancing on the edge of chaos and harmony! Recommended for ages 12 and up, especially for those living with ADHD or anyone wanting to learn more about it.
This project challenges stereotypes about ADHD, aiming to break myths, promote openness, and reduce stigma. The performance questions the concept of normal, exploring behavioral discrimination through intensity, vulnerability, and the fear of rejection that many with ADHD experience.
Since I was little, people have said I’m intense. My life is a whirlwind of highs and lows, driven by an insatiable appetite for everything. I’m hungry for life and have always tried to tone down that hunger to avoid overwhelming those around me. In this dance, I share my story of growing up with ADHD, a diagnosis I received as an adult. As a child, my behavior was often misunderstood, leading to frustration and a sense of not fitting in.
– Cesilie Kverneland on the project
On stage, the audience will also meet Cissi, the Irish Setter who has been an important part of Cesilie’s life for many years. The dog’s unpredictability highlights the spontaneous and sometimes chaotic side of ADHD, but also brings attention to the harmony and structure that exists within it. Cissi’s presence will not follow a strictly planned choreography, allowing space for surprises and authenticity—just as Cesilie experiences ADHD in daily life.
